Sill Type
Sill Notes
Rowlock: Bricks laid on edge across sill, sloped outward min. 15Β° for drainage. Use Grade SW bricks for weather exposure. Install through-wall flashing under rowlock course with upturned end dams.
Slip sill: Fits within the masonry opening β€” length = opening width minus 10mm (5mm clearance each side). Requires drip groove on underside.
Lug sill: Extends into jamb brickwork each side (typically 50–65mm). Length = opening + 2 Γ— lug. Set back from face for brick alignment.
Precast: One-piece concrete sill. Fewer joints = better waterproofing. Specify min. 15Β° slope, drip groove, and flashing beneath.
